   Not at all, the idea has been around for millennia, it was just a theory as the Aztecs estimated their calendar would end then. There was a thread like this before, think it was locked.

   Just remember this every decade or some there is always someone saying the world is going to end on this date...and it never happens.
   
   In fact this 2012 nonsense does not even take in to count that since the Roman times we have used 2 different calenders.

   I don't really think it will happen, one thing I liked in 2012 which not many people had thought of was the world didn't explode, implode etc., it just basically flooded and erupted. The world didn't go anywhere, just most of civilisation was lost and destroyed.

    Noone really knows when the Earth will end, but, 2012, it could be true. I mean, The floods in Queensland the bushfires the earthquakes and that terrible tsunami have all happened each month of this year and we are only 3 months into the year. Could it be side effects? Maybe, Maybe not. I would say no it is ridiculous

    Earth could die any second,Any day,Any Month,Any Year. But the Earth will indeed explode in 1.6 Billion Years. So,Don't worry about it.

    Well, the world could end at any time. The world will end in a billion years and a bit, because it can't keep going for ever. Also, the sun will die and life cannot live. But this isn't next year.
    
    2012 is just a theory.
    
    Global warming will eventually kill the world. The suns rays come through the atmosphere and pass through the greenhouse gases we produce, beacuse the rays are so powerful then. (Greenhouse gases are gases from factories, cars... you name it. We are killing the planet.) The rays warm up the earth, and bounce off the earth. Some can pass back through the greenhouse gases, but most, not powerful anymore, cannot get through the layer of gas, and therefore stay and warm up the earth. The more gas we produce... the more warmth gets trapped. Then, the ice caps all melt, killing the polar bear. The seas are warmed so expand, and that together with the ice caps melting (causing more water) mean that the sea levels will rise and flood. My home town will be gone.
    
    But don't stress! The world exploding next year is just a theory, to make film out of
    
    Global warming will start to take effect in 50 years, but it won't completley kill us. We will probably fry in a few hundred million years.
    
    But don't worry about it, there will probably be a new earth out there an humans will re-evolve in billions of years.

    I think it is a bit too late to fully save our planet, we will probably be long dead but global warming is growing, apparently it is a bit unstoppable now. But don't worry, it won't be for a long time and chances are all life will have been wiped out so nothing will suffer from it.

    Here is the real truth about why they say the Aztecs. About 10 or so years ago some one finally figured out the calendar the Aztecs used. They claimed the world began only 100 years before their civilization began and ends roughly around 2012. But they never said the world was coming to an end. It just that it ends.
    
    I say roughly as I have been down to my local museum a few times, it seems even the experts argue the length of their calender. Right now their are 20 different arguments each claiming each section is of a set of years

    To put it simply, we won't die next year, but life will be wiped out in a billion or so years, it's unstoppable. Global warming may kill us, or the sun exploding will kill us. But none of us will be alive so don't worry!

    Alright, So I want on this site called 2012 with the planet X and they said it will be able to be viewed by all the world in May. Then they said, in 2012 it will crash in too Earth and cause a Big Hit.
    Then they said something about Mayan and how long it will take and Here and there and so and so getting something wrong then they "Estimated" that it would be 2012. Then they posted a link to this thingymabob flying through the air and said it was Planet X and turns out it was just a bird
    Of course I don't believe all this poppycock
