    Hey poopsy....

    how are you?
I had a look at the timezones Australia have:
    WAST - west
    ACST - capital
    AEST - east

    Which one is yours?

I live in the MEZ now it is 7:50 in the morning.

I have to write applications for getting a job...
how does an aussie application look like? May you have a link for me?!

Lots of questions to answer - have a nice day!

    Lischen :)

    By poopstick Jul 21st 2010

    Hi Lischen!

I live in the AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) time zone. I checked on a time zone converter and it says that your time is about 8 hours behind mine... I think.

Sorry, I couldn't find a link for a job application. Google Images can be very unreliable sometimes.

I'm interested to know if you have heard of any of these sports:

    Cricket
Rugby League (form of rugby union)
Australian Rules or Aussie Rules (form of Gaelic Football)

These are the main sports we play in Australia. What sports are popular in Germany?

Also, Australia now has our first female Prime Minister, Julia Gillard. She is also the first unmarried Australian Prime Minister. Did you here about what happened to Kevin Rudd, our old PM?

Lots of questions right back at you!:D

    Have a nice day too!

    By Lischen89 Jul 22nd 2010

    G'Day

8 hours difference between us - could be true

I heard of cricket and rugby, but not from Aussie rules....
I prefer to do sport instead of watching it on tv! ;)

Popular in Germany is soccer, tennis, icehockey, hadball, basketball - I think....

Politics - not my favorite subject...I don't even know much about the german one...how should I know something about the australian one???
    :D

This morning I woke up because of a thunderstorm :-( and I saw a rainbow - beautiful!
Do you know Lena Meyer-Landrut from Germany? She wins the euro vision song contest in norway...she sang "Satellite"

At the moment I write my diploma thesis - :-|
    And it is summer! Ahhh

    See ya

    By poopstick Jul 22nd 2010

    Guten Tag!

It's another beautiful day here in Australia. It doesn't seem like winter at all.
Australia are doing very bad in a game of cricket against Pakistan.

I've never heard of Lena Meyer-Landrut but by the sounds of it, she's a very good singer.:D

Australia's best singer would probably have to be Kylie Minogue. She's just released a new album called Aphrodite. It's quite good.|-)

It's the final episode of Masterchef Australia over here on Sunday!
Here's the website with some very good recipes on it:
    http://www.masterchef.com.au/home.htm

    Auf Wiedersehen!:D

    By Lischen89 Jul 23rd 2010

Wow - you still know some german...
Remember the "Learning german" thread - where you had to translate some german words...long time ago!

    It's raining cats and dogs.
A big thunderstorm last night - scary! And now only 20°C...not cold but not summer!

Here is the official web site of Lena - I think she is cute and a good singer too.
I like to sing along with her songs!
    http://www.lena-meyer-landrut.de/

Kylie Minogue is great - love her songs...but I have no CD at home! Crazy

Have you ever met some "Travel & Work" backpackers from germany?

Have a nice weekend - next time on monday! :-X

    By poopstick Jul 23rd 2010

    Hello again!

    I remember that German thread!:D
That was ages ago but it seems like yesterday.

Hopefully that storm over there goes away soon. It sounds nasty.

I've never met any German backpackers. I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

I see your birthday is on April 25th. Mine is two days after on the 27th!|-)
The 25th is also ANZAC Day for Australia and New Zealand.

    See you later!:D

    By Lischen89 Jul 23rd 2010

    Hey...
A good friend of mine has her birthday on 27th too - her name is Carolin.

I am thinking about to travel to australia and work there for about 3 month...thats why I asked you for the application ...

    :)

    By poopstick Jul 23rd 2010

    WOW! COOL!

    Whereabouts in Australia?

    By Lischen89 Jul 23rd 2010

I don't know - maybe Sydney or Perth or an other big city...or on an organic farm...
But it is all not sure ...first I have to talk with my family and how it will be after the trip when I am back home - I need a job in germany too!

    By poopstick Jul 23rd 2010

I live very close to Sydney. It's a very nice place but the traffic in the mornings and afternoons can sometimes be very slow. I've heard that Perth is very nice too.

    By Lischen89 Jul 23rd 2010

I have a driving licence - but I have no car and I don't think that I would buy a car there...Can you go there by bus or tram?

rush hour is everywhere - and it is bad!

    By poopstick Jul 23rd 2010

Yes, in Sydney there is a very convenient train line that goes all around the urban and suburban areas.

    Buses are pretty much everywhere.:)

    By Lischen89 Jul 23rd 2010

    thats good!
In my holiday in Malta the bus drove everywhere I want...and it was chaep!

Here in my hometown they raise the prices for tickets...:-(

    By Lischen89 Jul 26th 2010

    Look at this: "Poseidons Rache"

    http://funfairzone.com/?id=rides&ride_id=214

Crazy - I sat in there - It was great...

    By poopstick Jul 26th 2010

WOW! That looks like a really scary ride!

I found a pretty freaky rollercoaster. I don't know what country it's in though.

    roller_coaster.jpg

    By Lischen89 Jul 27th 2010

They only want 3 € for this ride... cheap!

    Do you like funfairs ?
Are there "theme parks" in australia?

By shaun mad em Jul 27th 2010

How do m'good chappies and very sorry for intrudin but is there a REDWALL fan about?

    By poopstick Jul 27th 2010

@ Lischen - We have many theme parks in Australia but the best ones are at the Gold Coast in Queensland. We have Movie World, Sea World, Wet n' Wild, White Water World at the Gold Coast and quite a few others around Australia. I have been to Movie World and Sea World.

Also, what are some songs in Germany that really represent your country? In an Australian Radio Show, these were voted the Top 5 Songs About Australia:

    5. Wide Open Road - The Triffids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSMF3h7LE2Q
    4. Sounds Of Then - Gang Gajang: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ML9h3I5Uktw
    3. Beds Are Burning - Midnight Oil: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDkwUlaJhs0&feature=avmsc2
    2. Solid Rock - Goanna: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV_0Mf9YcyA
    1. Great Southern Land - Icehouse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mkidP2OUCk

    Which one was your favourite

    By Lischen89 Jul 28th 2010

there was no voting like that in germany - so I can only tell you some famous german singers and bands...

    + Lena http://www.lena-meyer-landrut.de/
    ~Rammstein http://www.rammstein.de/blog/
    + Wir sind Helden http://www.wirsindhelden.de/
    + Sportfreunde Stiller http://www.sportfreunde-stiller.de/
    ~ Die Ärzte http://www.bademeister.com/
    - Tokio Hotel http://www.tokiohotel.com/de/#home/
    + Ich und Ich http://www.ich-und-ich.de/
    + Peter Fox http://www.peterfox.de/

    (+ I like, - I don't like, ~ I like some songs of them)

Have fun surfing on their homepages!

I think I like Nr 5 the most... that are all pretty old songs huh?!

    ;)

    By poopstick Jul 28th 2010

Yeah, most of those Australian songs are from the '80s. I've never heard of any of those German bands/singers but I do think that song on Lena's homepage is really cool!:D

We've only got one month left of winter over here!|-)
    I can't wait for spring.

    By Lischen89 Jul 29th 2010

Lena is a shooting star - This spring she became famouse in a show called "Unser Star für Oslo". There they searched a singer for the eurovision song contest. And she wins both of the shows/contests!

Spring is a great time of the year - all the flowers and animals!
We are going straight to automn / fall...:-| when it all becomes grey and sad!

Do you have snow there where you live??? I think not - huh?

    By poopstick Jul 29th 2010

No, I don't have snow here but there is an area around Canberra that gets a lot of snow. The biggest mountain is called Mt. Kosciuszko. It's very popular for skiers.

Have you heard about a new movie coming soon called "Tomorrow When the War Began"? It's an Australian film based on the book by John Marsden.

    By Lischen89 Jul 30th 2010

No I haven't heard of the movie before but look...

    http://www.kino-zeit.de/filme/trailer/tomorrow-when-the-war-began

...its in germany too! Sounds interesting!

    By poopstick Jul 31st 2010

You should read the book series. There's 8 books in the series I think and 3 books in the post-series.

    By Lischen89 Aug 1st 2010

do you have hayfever or any other allergies?

    By wghtmf Aug 1st 2010

I hope you don't mind me dropping in. My mum has hayfever but I'm not allergic to anything that I know of.

    By poopstick Aug 3rd 2010

I don't have any allergies but I used to sneeze a lot in swimming pools from the chlorine.
David Guetta is a great singer/DJ. He's one of my favourites.

There's nothing very interesting happening over here in Australia apart from election campaigns. Is there anything interesting happening in Germany?

    By Lischen89 Aug 4th 2010

Sorry that I haven't been on for so long - a lot to do...>Diploma thesis<

I am allergic to cats and I have hayfever too!

There is nothing interesting in germany...
There were the athletics championships from europe - but they are over now...
The tragedy of Love-Parade - have you heard of it? Mass panic - about 20 "Raver" lost their lifes. :O

    See ya :-X

By Shaun and the Ewe Aug 4th 2010

Hey Lischen! Are you taking a diploma? If so, wow!

    By poopstick Aug 5th 2010

Yeah, well done on taking the diploma!:D

I've never heard of the love-parade. I sounds very terrible though.

I haven't really got anything to talk about at the moment. I'll make sure I reply within 24 hours though. See ya!|-)

    By Lischen89 Aug 5th 2010

    Have you met backpackers yet?

    Have a nice day!

    By wghtmf Aug 5th 2010

    By ajmole Aug 5th 2010

Hello there everybody! I hope you all had a good day/is having a good day.

Hey wghtmf, can I make your Birthday Party?

    By poopstick Aug 5th 2010

@ Lischen - I love Mexican food! my favourite would have to be burritos and then tacos.

I haven't met any backpackers yet. I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

I'm not doing anything exciting. I have to write out my own script for Little Red Riding Hood for English class. It's boring.

Do you have any pets? I have a Jack Russell Terrier named Harry. He went on a big walk today. He's very excited by the smell of the plants now that it's very close to Spring.

    @ wghtmf - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Have a nice day!:D

    By Lischen89 Aug 7th 2010

    Yeah Happy birthday wghtmf!
I really like cats and I can play with them but I have to watch out not to touch my face or eyes with my hands after I play with a cat - thats all...

The mexican buffet was great : Chili Ribs, Chili con Carne, Wraps, Tacos with sour cream, potatoe twisters and wedges...

I have two budgies/ parakeet - Elmo and Pauline (green and blue-green).

Have fun walking with your dog!

    See ya later!

    By ajmole Aug 13th 2010

You can't say the name of the town you live in timmybash. ;)

Ah, I love Snoopy! And I like Arthur, but I hate the 2008/2009/2010 episodes. I hate his voice now! Annoying, like SpongeBob.

    By Lischen89 Aug 14th 2010

    Snoopy is really cool

    1212887650827_f.jpg

    By ajmole Aug 14th 2010

    By Lischen89 Aug 16th 2010
