It’s not long now until we wrap up another series of Shaun the Sheep. All the animation is finished and the sets, props and sheep (those that didn’t escape) have been carefully stored away until next time.

However, the edit, visual effects, music and sound departments are still working incredibly hard to finish off the last episodes before the end of February. There have been many late nights already and the pizza boxes are beginning to stack up around Dan the editor’s desk... he’s in there somewhere, I can hear him scratching about.

I still have another busy week ahead, locking down the sound for the last four episodes but soon I’ll be able to relax at last and reflect on a job well done by all.

It just remains for me to thank all those involved in the making of the series; the loud ones, the quiet ones, the reluctant, the enthusiastic, the critical, the young, the old(er), the troopers, the bitter, the funny, the confused, the tired, the creator, the shy, the unusual, the talented, the refractory, the cross-dresser, the true artists, the blaggers, the beards, the visionaries, the deluded, the dedicated, the cyclists, the stripper, the ambitious, the poorly, the precocious, the virtuosos, the hedonists, the mums, the dads and the newly-weds. But most of all I’d like to thank all those involved with the show who really cared and wanted to make this series as wonderful as possible, you know who you are... CHEERS!

Thanks to the online team for letting me invade their website during the course of the production, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to write on here more often. Congratulations on the new website design, it looks great.

Finally, thank you to all the Shaun the Sheep fans out there, especially the ones who take the time to write regularly on this site, we really do appreciate your contributions and I hope you enjoy the second half of the series.

    Goodbye everybody!

    Love, Chris.

Hi Chris, and all at Aardmans flock,

it was a wonderfull time for us fans to get so much informations, nice photos and short storys about and arround Series 2. So much little things were happend and gave us lots of smile and fun. You let us all be a part of this Series and your work. You do your work with so much love and enthusiastics so the result can only be a new success for Aardman and lots of funny time for us with Shaun and his flock.
I have tears in my eyes: left side while this is the end of production and the end of a nice time but right side for the happyness Shaun brings all over the world. And i hope, one day a people at Aardman find the stored Shaun and awaike him to a neu life for SERIES 3!
    THANK YOU!

    Hi Gareth,

before you all leave for the carribean sea maybe you can post the titles of the upcoming episodes;-)

And is the length of all episodes aproximately the same 6:30? I am asking because some episodes aired during 'Die Sendung mit der Maus' are shorter ( e.g 3:50, Bitzers hat, Two's company 5:36 )

    Any clue?

    Ciao Hermann

    Dear Chris,

that sounds as it is and was a very, very busy time for you all, the animators and all the others but I think it has worth the trouble the new episodes are fantastic!
It's a little bit 'bad' to know that now everything is over but I really, really hope (and my whole family does the same) that there maybe will be another series! But untill this will happen, we are waiting that all the new episodes will be shown at TV and until there maybe will be a series 3, we will look the old ones again and again
    :D
I think there are some surpirsing episodes coming now like for example this one with Shauns grilfreind which was soooo cute, I'm really looking forward to seeing those second half!!!

And at the end, thank you Chris and Gareth for those nice and interesting pictures, texts, facts and (funny) stories right from the middle of the production!

But I hope this part of the Forum will not be quiet after all episodes are out, hopefully there will be some more pictures or informations about Shaun!

Thank you for this great time, for the pictures and all the other thing,
    I love Bitzer

Yah thanks for the piccies and all that,
    Can't wait for Sris 2 part 2!

    whens it on bbc?

    By poopstick Feb 25th 2010

"All the animation is finished and the sets, props and sheep (those that didn’t escape) have been carefully stored away until next time."

Does this mean there will be a series 3?
    :O:O

    By jordan Feb 26th 2010

well there will be a series 3 but, Gareth means the Sets & Props which have escaped meaning there on Exhibition like Shaun @ Eden project Currently. or if people have got lucky and taken them home to keep

By csadler Aardman Staff Feb 26th 2010

Actually I meant they were stolen but I suppose "got lucky" is another way of putting it...

By csadler Aardman Staff Feb 26th 2010

Schinagl - I'm not sure if Gareth has read this thread but I hope I can help with your question...

There are two versions of each episode - 7 minutes and 5 minutes. The 7 minute versions have 6 minutes animation and 1 minute titles/credits, the 5 minute versions have 4 minutes animation and 1 minute titles/credits.

The 5 minute versions exist because some broadcasters can't fit a 7 minute programme into their schedules and requested the same episodes in a shorter format.

Obviously, I would prefer for everybody to see the 7 minute versions - they are the director's cut, we write and film the episodes to work in 6 minutes, not 4. The shorter versions don't always work as intended with 2 minutes of animation cut out!

    Hope that helps

    Chris

    By schinagl Feb 26th 2010

Ah thanks, that explains the timing differences.

    By Idril Feb 26th 2010

Chris, I hope you get to have a nice vacation after all your hard work, I can't wait until series 2 is available in the US. Of course, I am still waiting for the last 6 episodes of series 1 to come out on DVD here.(Any idea when that will be released?) We have enjoyed series 1 soooo much. It sounds like the episodes in Series 2 will be terrific as well. I envy you guys that have already seen most of Series 2. I really hope there will be a Series 3.

By Shaun and the Ewe Feb 28th 2010

I really hope that there is a series 3. I also found a page on wikipedia, where the episode list is so far and as of now, info on 8 eps from the 2nd half of series 2!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Shaun_the_Sheep_episodes
In the last episode Timmy is said to grow up! :'( But I think Shaun's girlfriend is returning. I can't wait for the episodes to air, and then the DVDs. Timmy-From into . I hope not because it would not be the same without timmy the LAMB.

By csadler Aardman Staff Mar 3rd 2010

I don't usually like to give things away but I can assure you Timmy does not get older in this series! Where did you get that idea?!

    By Aardeej Mar 3rd 2010

I've noticed that the Shaun the Sheep page on wikipedia has been abused recently. It's had a load of rubbish added by people who want to mislead fans.

By csadler Aardman Staff Mar 3rd 2010

    Thanks Aardeej - I'll take a look

    By concon Mar 3rd 2010

Aww I thought that was real! :(

What about Mittns and Yabba coming to visit Timmy? *Please be real!*

By csadler Aardman Staff Mar 3rd 2010

Aardeej - I agree the Wikipedia page is a bit of a mess, I've made a few edits but I think it needs a complete overhaul.
I don't think the contributors were intentionally trying to mislead however. Always remember, anybody can contribute to Wikipedia articles so the information is never 100% reliable.

    By Aardeej Mar 4th 2010

Thanks for sorting that out Chris

    By Aardeej Mar 4th 2010

    Concon

Im sorry but I cant see Yabba and Mittens appearing in Shaun the Sheep, They are totally different in design and seeing they come from a program for pre - schoolers (which needs to be more colourful) they would therefor look totally out of place on the farm surrounding. However I suppose the animators could adapt that.

As Chris just said Wikipedia is never 100%.

    How many episodes this season?

By shaun mad em May 19th 2010

    im gonna miss shaun

    By baaah May 24th 2010

I was initially a bit disappointed due to the character changes, but again there were some stellar episodes that are among the best television any category. I just wished it never stopped. I keep my fingers crossed for a third season. Thank you for the exceptional work all of you have done. You really make a difference. :'(

    By furby May 26th 2010

I love Series 2! I love seeing all the characters and today I saw the one with the ducks. I wish I could visit the set and see all the characters in the studio.

I hope Shaun goes on for a lot more episodes in the future. I love Timmy.

    By Dudeski29 May 29th 2010

    Hello Chris,
Just finished taping the episodes from May 2010.
Two questions: when will the rest of the series be broadcast? And is there a chance to watch Strictly no dancing and Who's the caddy on BBC again soon? I missed those episodes, see?
Anyway keep up the good work. I am a big fan of Shaun's antics.

    By MeatPack Aug 6th 2010

Series 2 just started viewing here in Denmark. As a long time Bitzer fan (my kids bought me a ref's whistle for my birthday, and I'm *trying* to train them to magically do exactly what I need them to when I give it a blow, just like the master...) I found it hard to come to terms with the new look. What's with the farmer's new "Keith Richards" wrinkles?
I found this forum while trying to find out if the series had been sold to another studio, as I felt the whole flow of the first episode had changed, the timing, the cheeky looks to camera, everything, as if it were a cheap imitation of itself. Unfortunately they've chosen to dub the title music here for the second series, so the whole thing feels distinctly foreign.

Having read a few threads I now understand better the changes and the reasons for them, and I'm willing to give the rest of the series a chance. I look forward to it :O)

By shaun mad em Aug 30th 2010

i thought series 2 of shaun the sheep was really good, of coarse you can never beat the first series as it was fun seeing new characters and a whole new story. But series 2 still brought lots of fun and laughs and i hope there will be a series 3! cya shaun :'(

    By heymanjack Aug 30th 2010

I wish there will be a series 3 of the Shaun the sheep. It is the only tv show I really want to watch these days.

Here's a question you probably don't get asked vey much : How much does it cost to make a series of STS ? .. production and editting together , i accept that it costs thousands of hours and pounds to build up the models a tequniques which is invaluable..

hope you can answer my question, i would love to know..thankyou
