Hello Everybody
I’m sorry I’ve been away from the forum so long as we’ve been very busy preparing the first twenty episodes for broadcast!
I’ve been away from the studio for the last two weeks, travelling around the South West, visiting the people involved in the post production of “Shaun the Sheep”.
Mark Thomas, our composer, has a little recording studio deep in the Somerset countryside. I’ve driven over 500 miles in the last month, back and forth from Bristol. Seeing the soundtrack take shape is one of my favourite parts of the job and I think Mark has excelled himself with this series, the music is incredible.
We’ve also been doing a lot more character voice recording. Along with Justin Fletcher and John Sparkes, who play all the main character voices, the much bigger cast in series 2 has allowed members of the crew to chip in too. Rich Webber (animation director) returns as the voice of Shirley the sheep and Will Norie (sound supervisor) surprised everybody with an outstanding female impersonation, playing a new character whose identity will remain a secret for now. Even yours truly and Golly (series creator) formed an impromptu double act to play the farm ducks.
So, with the first twenty episodes ready to go, I’ve returned to the studio to finish the remaining storyboards and start editing the second half of the series. It seems a very long time since we started sifting through over six hundred episode ideas nearly two years ago when we started planning for series two. Now, at last, the end is in sight.
A few people have been asking about broadcast dates. Of course these will vary depending on which country you are in and the decision is down to the individual TV channels, not us.
However, I can reveal that the first of the new episodes will be shown from mid October on KI.KA in Germany (yes, that’s two weeks time, you lucky Germans!) and from late November in the UK.
Take care until next time.
Chris
